Education & Research
Research-grade infrastructure built for the demands of modern science.
Universities and research institutions run on data. The compute infrastructure behind that data needs to be reliable, well-managed, and backed up. We deploy and manage Linux server environments for research teams that cannot afford downtime or data loss.
Common Challenges
- High-performance compute requirements for data-intensive workloads
- Linux environments requiring specialized expertise
- Research staff with varying technical backgrounds
- Irreplaceable datasets requiring robust backup and recovery
Our Solutions
- Custom Linux server deployment sized for research workloads
- Ongoing managed infrastructure with 24/7 monitoring
- Hands-on staff training tailored to researcher skill levels
- Automated offsite backup with tested recovery procedures
mRNA Sequencing Lab
University of California, Irvine (UCI)
A UCI research lab conducting mRNA sequencing studies needed a Linux server environment capable of handling the intensive computational demands of genomics workloads. The sequencing pipeline generates large datasets continuously, requiring both the raw processing power to run analyses and the storage architecture to retain results reliably. We designed, deployed, and configured the Linux server infrastructure from the ground up, sizing the system for the lab's current sequencing volume with room to scale as research expands. Once the hardware was live, our team ran hands-on training sessions with the lab's researchers and technicians, covering day-to-day usage, job submission, and basic administration so the team could operate independently without waiting on IT for routine tasks. Offsite backup was configured and automated to protect sequencing data and research results against hardware failure or loss, with recovery procedures tested before handoff. We continue to manage the infrastructure under an ongoing contract, handling monitoring, maintenance, and any issues that arise so the research team stays focused on science rather than servers.
Result
The lab's sequencing pipeline runs on infrastructure sized for their workload and managed by a dedicated team. Research staff operate the system independently following training. All sequencing data is backed up offsite automatically with verified recovery procedures.
