Expanding Medical Group with Labs and Mobile Imaging
Orange County
A medical group expanding into lab services and mobile imaging needed an infrastructure overhaul that could handle clinical complexity without cutting corners on compliance. We designed and installed a fully segmented network with four isolated VLANs: one for office and administrative staff, one for clinical personnel, one for lab technicians, and a separate segment for the mobile imaging team connecting back securely from the field. Each user group gets only the access their role requires, with no lateral movement between segments. On the physical side, we built out the network rack from scratch, ran structured cabling throughout the facility, and deployed on-site secure storage with automated HIPAA-compliant backups, including off-site redundancy and tested recovery procedures. Access control was zoned to match the network: front office staff badge into their area, clinical staff into exam rooms and supply, lab techs into the lab exclusively, and mobile techs have credential-based access when on-site. Every door event is logged and reportable.
Result
Four fully isolated user segments, a clean network rack build, HIPAA-compliant on-site and off-site backup, and granular access control across every role. The group passed their compliance review without a single finding.
